Medical degree in Medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Specialised in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (Barcelona, Spain), Dr Asensio has successfully completed aan advanced digestive ultrasound competency course from the Spanish Digestive Sonography Association, with clinical training conducted at Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre in Madrid (Madrid, Spain), where he also trained in hepatic elastography / Fibroscan. Dr Asensio also holds a Master’s degree in Digestive Pathology, from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
Currently, he practises at a universitary hospital in the Barcelona area, where he is a member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Inpatient Unit, and the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit. He is also actively involved in training medical students, residents, and future gastroenterologists.
Simultaneously, Dr Asensio sees patients in a Gastroenterology office in Calafell, and performs gastrointestinal endoscopies in the same area.

Hepatology. Cirrhosis of various etiologies, biliary tract diseases, steatotic liver disease / fatty liver, viral and autoimmune hepatitis, diagnosis of liver fibrosis, evaluation of abnormal liver function tests
